🌟 What Is Autistic Burnout?

Autistic burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion. It often happens after extended efforts to mask autistic traits, cope with sensory overload, or meet daily expectations in environments that aren’t suited to neurodivergent needs.

People experiencing autistic burnout may notice:

  • temporary loss of skills (e.g. communication, planning)
  • Increased sensitivity to light, sound, or touch
  • Difficulty managing everyday tasks
  • A strong need for withdrawal or rest
